Although the gambling industry is legalized in a lot of countries, there are still some parts of the world that haven’t yet allowed it. According to latest reports, India just may be the next in line to authorize it.
Just A Rumor?
These days, certain rumors are spreading like wildfire that the Indian government is about to regulate online gambling in this country.
Generally speaking, apart from several jurisdictions, this form of entertainment is still not allowed out there. Furthermore, lately, there have been a couple of requests asking for legalization of online gambling.
Moreover, you can still find several corporations that are trying to utilize the grey area in the legality of online gambling in India and are figuring out how to offer their services in a surrogate manner.
Analyzing The Report:
Those who are interested in this industry have found a 150-page report that the Law Commission of India have sent to the government. Here, the LCI suggested the authorization of this form of gambling in a regulated manner.
Why is that? It’s because they have come to a realization that practically no one can prevent people from finding and at the same time using online betting sites. They can try but there are always those who will outsmart them. The law that is currently active has no provision for this.
The Benefit Of It:
Although seemingly the government doesn’t see a lot of positive things that gambling could bring, the Law Commission of India indicated that there is a massive potential for tax income that the government could benefit from, if they decide to legalize online betting.
It looks like these claims have slightly changed their mind when it comes to this topic, hence, they have decided to give it a shot and thoroughly analyze these reports.
Notwithstanding things are moving in the right direction, the future concerning this subject is still very uncertain. The situation will probably change, but no one knows for sure when.
The current central government is about to terminate their five-year mandate. In May this year, the general election will be held. At this very moment, the government is trying to get a second term but it seems like they are dealing with some issues that could potentially prevent them from extending their governance.
That’s precisely why they are doing things carefully and slowly, because they don’t want to risk doing anything hastily that can be dubbed as politically incorrect.
